The Extraordinary Adventures Of Adele Blanc-Sec (Luc Besson, 2010)

Many people have praised Amelie by Jean-Pierre Jeunet for being a movie that reinvented magical realism and brought the sweetness and charm back to our hearts. I disagree completely. I find Amelie the weakest Jean-Pierre Jeunet movie and if I had to choose a movie that achieved all these thing, then this film  would be this Luc Besson's movie. An absolutely astonishing fantasy adventure movie that really captures the spectator with its charismatic agenda and its undeniable allure. Adele Blanc-Sec is a highly underrated and overlooked movie that anyone with little love for cinema should definitely watch. An incredibly choreographed and stylized movie, an imaginative journey and a moment in cinema that you think that all the gates have been opened and there was nothing left behind.
Luc Besson uses all his French and idiosyncratic charm to make a movie that really dances the most romantic and exotic dance that you can think of. I watched it first time back in 2010 and from then I have seen it numerous times and this beauty never seems to lose its fierce power. It's energetic, fantasizing, humorous, ironic, tender, sweet and eccentric. All these elements seem to be packed in this movie, that inhales the beauty of cinema and exhales a film that should have been considered a modern cult classic by now. A movie perfect to give it as a present to the people you love, to the people you care, to the people who have conquered your heart. Because this is a movie that it definitely "shatters" your soul, destroys bad karma, resurrects the dead and makes the day a bright, brisk summer morning. From the movies that you fall in love with and from the films that stick in your heart for the rest of your life. A bomb of sweetness.
