Dazed And Confused (Richard Linklater, 1993)

And the thing that comes into my mind as I gaze at the poster of this movie is the lyrics by the phenomenal band Cypress Hill and their song "Insane In The Brain" and the lyrics go like "Like Louis Armstrong, played the trumpet I'll hit that bong and break you off something." Dazed And Confused is the ultimate teen fantasy, hands down. If you want to party with a movie then there is no better selection than this one. But the thing that makes me wonder is how Richard made it to build a movie so "free of guilt". Because there are numerous people out there that they will tell you that this is a crap movie, vacant movie, superficial movie, a movie for American morons. And of course these people would be missing the core of life. Dazed And Confused is such an addictive movie because it turns simple reality to the ultimate wet dream. If you think about the premise of the movie, there is none. A bunch of teenagers hanging around doing practically nothing of real importance. But this is the essence of quality time. This is the essence of existing. If our lives were so appealing as of those teens in the movie, there would be only joy to give and take.
And I know that I may sound to you over-enthusiastic with that simplicity, but I have said it many times that is though simplicity, most of the times, you get to the core of things. Coolness in such high levels as it is presented in that movie is a thing to brag about. Some might think that is a movie straightly for teenagers. They would be utterly wrong. The existential value of the movie, exceeds the world of a teenager and becomes a true lesson about life. If we could have a touch of the spirit and vigor of those people pictured in the movie, in our day to day living, this planet would be a never ending playground. Character in life is one of the most crucial things and an element of living that so few people pay attention to. Dazed And Confused might be the ultimate fun movie, but there is a hidden agenda in the movie, underneath the party facade that speaks about truly substantial things in life. For those who fail to see the glory of those highly appealing characters, I can say that they were probably never been born.
