The Dead Don't Die (Jim Jarmusch, 2019)

After the incredible and unforgettable vampire movie Only Lovers Left Alive the news that Jim Jarmsuch was going to make a zombie movie was nothing less than bliss. But things didn't go as it was expected. The Dead Don't Die is a movie that tries and it has its moments, not to say a brilliant cast also, but there is something wrong with the experiment. And the thing that is wrong is that the movie is rather boring. And of course boring and Jim Jarmusch go together, because in the director's world the word boring is been transformed into cool and taking its time, but in this particular example things get boring, period.
There is this lack of outbreak in this movie that in any zombie film is rather necessary. You see zombie eat people and for some fucking reason you don't really feel it deep in your veins. The whole story has that lethargic tone where after some point it gets tiresome and the more tiresome it gets the more you feel the need for something to happen and stir the waters, that have become closer to a swamp. I am not saying that the movie doesn't have that cool style of the great American director, it has it and that is one of the very interesting elements of the film. But together with the cool you get that lack of events, that lack of vigor, that lack of  power, things that are most needed in a zombie comedy. Truth say that The Dead Don't Die is a movie that is worth watching and checking. With all its flaws it is a moment. It is a moment that goes down in history as the moment where the great American director did zombie movie. Even only for that this movie is worthy of your time. But again truth says that you should lower your expectations in order to have a good time with it.
